Inma Martinez
Inma Martinez is Co-Founder and Chief Executive of Escape Velocity.
After holding senior level positions in Goldmans Sachs and the telecommunications sector, Inma founded and led her first entrepreneurial venture in 1999 and continued to co-found and lead at the helm two other companies, the latter one in Finland, as a mandate for 3i Ventures. In less than 18 months she successfully grew the business from start-up to a fully fledged company and achieved the global technology launch for its prime clients, NOKIA and HP in 2006.
Other venture capital mandates followed and Inma's work has mainly been focused on growing businesses towards successful launch, market positioning and revenue. She combines her senior executive experience with her serial entrepreneurial skills.
Jump-starting SMEs also requires access to valuable service providers that can truly deliver in areas that are fundamental for product development, marketing and client servicing. Over the years Inmae has amalgamated key industry contacts amongst web development agencies, PR, viral campaigns and the media. She has also been involved in fund-raising at seed and institutional investor levels and managing capital requirements. Her funding contacts include private individuals and institutional investors across Europe, US and Asia.
The portfolio of companies that she has advised covers not just digital technologies, but financial services, biotech, medical and neurosciences.
As a digital media strategist her work has been recognised by industry and media internationally. FORTUNE and TIME have described her as one of Europe’s top talents in Human Factors and Social Engagement through technology. In 2001 the members of The European Leadership Forum, a Fortune 500 CEO and EU Governors annual summit, voted her “Best Contributor to the Formation of Digital Media Strategy”. In 2005 Red Herring ranked her amongst the top 40 most influential women in technology.
She is also regularly invited to participate in industry conferences as a speaker on mobile and web technologies, as well as on entrepreneurial issues such as growth, funding, selling technology products to consumers and how the social web is transforming corporations.
She is a Freeman of the City of London and a Liveryman of the Information Technologists Livery Company.
Combining her academic background with that of finance, technology and entrepreneurship has allowed her to bring to organisations a broad and creative vision, an active attitude towards problem-solving and an approach to innovation that empowers companies and increases shareholder value.
